    Overview

    The Yashica ML 300mm f/5.6 is a vintage telephoto lens with solid build quality, featuring a metal construction and rubberized focus ring. Optically, it offers decent sharpness, especially on-axis and stopped down, with very little vignetting and nice color rendering. However, it exhibits noticeable chromatic aberration, both longitudinal and transverse, with fringing in out-of-focus areas. The lens is relatively slow at f/5.6, and the 'C' version lacks a tripod mount, making it less ideal for low-light wildlife without support. Minimum focus distance is 4.5m. It suits landscape photographers on a budget who can use a tripod and don't mind correcting CA in post.
