35–200mm · f/4–5.6
The Tokina SD 35-200 mm f/4-5.6 II is a vintage superzoom with surprisingly good image quality for its class, thanks to SD glass that controls aberrations. Optical strengths include very good sharpness at the wide end, even into corners, but performance slips around 135 mm. Weaknesses include a dark long end (~f/6.3), significant flare, and a green color cast. Build is solid, with smooth zoom and focus, but the lens is relatively large and the focus grip is poor. It suits budget-minded shooters seeking a compact, all-in-one telephoto zoom for daylight use, especially on APS-C.
