    Overview

    The Tokina AT-X 150-500mm f/5.6 is a rare, manual-focus telephoto zoom with a fixed f/5.6 aperture. Optically, it offers exceptionally low distortion and is sharp at 150mm but softer at 500mm, improving when stopped down. Build quality is superb with all-metal construction and a 95mm filter thread, though it is heavy at 2.2kg and requires a sturdy tripod (TerryLongImagery). It suits photographers comfortable with manual focus, especially on Nikon DSLRs with non-CPU lens data support, but is incompatible with Canon digital cameras.
