    Overview

    The Tokina AT-X 100-300mm f/4 is a large, heavy lens with excellent build quality. Optically, it delivers impressive center sharpness at f/4, surpassing a Minolta 300mm prime in that regard, but edges are softer. However, at 200mm and 300mm it is very soft wide open and sharpens by f/8-11. Distortion is minimal at shorter focal lengths, with slight pincushion at longer ones. Autofocus is slow and noisy. It suits users who prioritize center sharpness and build over edge-to-edge performance and fast AF.
