    Overview

    The Yashica Auto Yashinon DX 50mm f/1.7 is a well-built M42 lens with smooth focusing and no front element rotation. Optically, it is slightly soft at f/1.7 in the center but very sharp from f/2.8, with excellent across-frame sharpness at f/5.6–f/8. It produces natural colors and smooth bokeh, and flare is well controlled despite lacking multi-coating. Weaknesses include a relatively long minimum focus distance of 50 cm.
