    Overview

    The Tokina AT-X 235 AF PRO 20-35mm f/2.8 is a tough, all-metal ultrawide zoom suited for full-frame and film cameras. It offers good value at roughly half the price of comparable Nikon lenses. Optically, it is sharp in the center but soft in the corners wide-open, a trait shared with pricier competitors. Stopping down improves sharpness. Build quality is excellent, though the Focus Clutch Mechanism can be finicky. It is not recommended for DX cameras due to its restricted zoom range. Best for budget-conscious shooters needing a durable f/2.8 wide zoom.
