19–35mm · f/3.5–4.5
The Tokina AF 193 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5 is a budget ultra-wide zoom offering decent sharpness and good contrast/color for its price. Optical weaknesses include noticeable distortion at both ends and softness at the edges, especially in close-ups. Build uses a lightweight polycarbonate barrel with excellent rubber grips, but the front element rotates during manual focus, complicating polarizer use. Autofocus is functional but noisy and slower than USM systems. It suits budget-conscious photographers needing an ultra-wide for landscapes, architecture, or skate/snowboard photography on full-frame or film bodies.
