    Overview

    The Minolta MD Rokkor 85mm f/2 is a compact, lightweight lens (276g) with excellent build and a smooth focusing ring. Optically, it delivers very good sharpness across the frame when stopped down to f/4–f/8, with good contrast and well-controlled CA. Wide open at f/2, sharpness is decent but bokeh can be busy, and hexagonal aperture blades may appear at f/2.8. It suits landscape photographers seeking a small, sharp lens, but for portraits, alternatives with smoother bokeh may be preferred.
