    Overview

    The Rollei-HFT Planar 50 mm f/1.4 is a compact, solidly built manual-focus lens with a Rollei QBM mount. Optically, it delivers high contrast and vivid color, with inky blacks. Wide open at f/1.4, it is sharp but exhibits blooming, which disappears by f/2. At f/2, it offers excellent sharpness and contrast, though the LOMO 50mm is slightly sharper. Its main weakness is blooming wide open, but it suits photographers seeking classic Zeiss 'pop' and color rendering, especially stopped down.
