Overview

The Komura 135mm f/2.3 is a fast preset M42 lens with 16-blade aperture and 5 elements. Wide open, it exhibits spherical aberration and a very thin focus plane, suited for soft portraits (Nesster). Stopping to f/2.8 reduces aberrations but retains some softness; sharpness improves by f/4–5.6. Bokeh is smooth and neutral, colors are excellent with a warm golden glow (luisalegria). Build is solid at 23oz and 115mm. It suits portrait photographers seeking vintage character and smooth out-of-focus rendering, but not those requiring edge-to-edge sharpness wide open.
