Overview

The Sears MC 70-210mm f/4 lens shows mixed performance. Optical weaknesses include noticeable fringing up to f/8, vignetting at f/4, and low, uneven corner sharpness, possibly due to a misaligned element. Dispersion is a major issue; best performance is at f/11. At 210mm, contrast is low but sharpness comparable to 70mm; f/4 is very soft with heavy chromatic aberration. The macro mode is not user-friendly. Build and handling are not detailed. It may suit users who find a good copy, as some examples reportedly compete with prime lenses, but this copy did not.
