Overview

The Pentax-A Zoom 35-70mm f/4 SMC is a solid, well-made twist zoom lens with adequate sharpness. Its main optical weakness is barrel distortion at the wide end, correctable in post, and minor focus shift when zooming. Build quality is tight, but it can make smaller cameras front-heavy. It suits daylight walk-around shooting, especially at f/8-f/16, and offers close focusing to 4 inches at 70mm.
