13mm · f/5.6
The Nikon Nikkor 13mm f/5.6 Ai-S is an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 118° diagonal field of view, noted for its sharp focus across distances thanks to a floating system. It is extremely rare, with only about 300 handmade units produced. Optical performance is praised as excellent, but the lens is heavy (1.3 kg) and has a protruding front element that is fragile and lacks a cover. It is best suited for FX digital and film for ultra-wide shots, but impractical on DX. Today it is primarily a collector's item due to high cost and availability of superior modern zooms.
