The Tamron 200mm f/3.5 Adapt-A-Matic is a manual-focus telephoto lens with solid optical performance. Center sharpness is soft at f/3.5 but improves by f/5.6, which is the sweet spot. Corner-to-corner sharpness is consistent at common apertures with minimal distortion. Weaknesses include fringing at wide apertures in high-contrast scenes and significant flare in direct backlight. Build quality is good with excellent focus dampening, but the lens is heavy and challenging to stabilize on crop-sensor DSLRs without image stabilization.
