The Tamron 28mm f/2.8 Adapt-A-Matic is a compact, all-metal lens from the late 1960s–1970s, built to a high standard. Optically, it is soft at f/2.8 with noticeable vignetting, sharpens by f/4, and is tack sharp at f/5.6. Contrast is low, but colors are accurate and fringing/flare well controlled. Handling is excellent with smooth focus, though the aperture ring may be loose on older copies. It suits photographers who value build quality and are willing to stop down for sharpness.
