    Overview

    The Soligor C/D 28-80mm f/3.3-4.5 is a well-built zoom with smooth mechanics, though some copies exhibit zoom creep. Optical performance is mixed: at 28mm it is sharp from f/4 with average corners, improving at f/5.6; at 80mm the center is usable at f/4.5 but corners are soft, tightening by f/5.6. Macro mode (1:4 ratio) is cumbersome to focus and produces soft results at 80mm until f/8, with disappointing bokeh fringe and color shifts at 28mm. The one-touch zoom makes focusing difficult on DSLRs, especially in macro. It suits users who can manage focusing quirks and avoid macro mode, but is not ideal for modern digital cameras.
